SPEECH THERAPY

Speech and Language Therapy is a specialism dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of communication difficulties, both spoken and written, as well as disorders relating to swallowing and eating. This service is aimed particularly at children and teenagers.

Our main aim is to improve the quality of life for those who face challenges with speech, language, voice, hearing, non-verbal communication, reading, writing and language comprehension, as well as issues relating to swallowing and eating.

Speech and Language Therapy covers a wide range of conditions, including:

  1. Delays in language development: Difficulties in acquiring vocabulary, constructing sentences and developing age-appropriate conversational skills.
  2.  Stammering: Disruptions in the flow of speech, including repetitions of sounds or words, prolongations and blocks.
  3.  Articulation disorders: Problems with sound production, resulting in sounds being swapped, omitted or distorted.
  4. Voice disorders: Changes in the volume, pitch or resonance of the voice, often caused by vocal abuse or problems with the vocal cords.
  5. Aphasia: Difficulties in understanding or expressing language, usually following a stroke or brain injury.
  6. Swallowing disorders: Difficulty chewing or swallowing food, which can lead to problems such as food aspiration.
  7. Communication problems in children with autism or other disabilities: Support for the development of functional and social communication.

Speech therapy is essential for our clients to overcome these challenges, as it promotes effective communication, improves voice quality, enhances social interaction, boosts self-esteem, and, above all, leads to a better quality of life.
